Fascinating world of Sibu Island

I never knew that this small island is so beautiful until one day a friend of mine
invited me to join him to meet somebody there.
It took us almost two hours drive from Johor Bahru city to Tanjung Leman jetty, travelled north bound on the Kota Tinggi-Mersing trunk road and passed through the vast oil palm plantation of Felda Tenggaroh. We managed to catch the boat as we arrived at the jetty and headed straight to the island. The sea was not so choppy that so it took us only 20 minutes to reach there.
As we about to reach the shore, I've to agree with my friend when he told me that he is a regular visitor to this island. For a record, he said he comes to this island at least once a month for the past few years, not for fishing, snorkeling or diving, but just to laying down on its beaches and breath the fresh, clean air.
Sibu Island as it is called, is a tiny little island that form a part of Seribuat Archipelago. Located off the Peninsular Malaysia's east coast facing the South China Sea. It is considered one of Malaysia unspoilt islands. Despite its size, there are many surprises at every turn and easy to explore.
The endless stretches of sandy golden beaches and clear turquoise waters, makes this island a perfect hideaway place and the type of island escapade that many people dream of. The constant pounding waves of the South China Sea, has given this island a beautiful yet rugged look. Its hills and highland abound with lush tropical plant species makes it a suitable place for jungle trekking. Over the cliffs we could see flock of exotic and sea birds flying around circulating the island. The rocky shoreline on the north provides a perfect and ideal fishing spot for anglers.
At the southern end next to the secluded beach is a small fishing village with a population may be less than a hundred people. We
were told that many families and young people had moved out to the mainland
either looking for a better life in the town or became a Felda's settler.
How to get there
By road: The journey from Johor Bahru city to Tanjung Leman jetty is about two hours via Kota Tinggi-Mersing road. Upon reaching the Felda Tenggaroh's junction, look for the Pulau Sibu signboard and make right turn and drive all the ways to Tanjung Leman jetty complex. There are many boat services provided by the respective resort operators from this jetty to the island.
